InfoDev Training Program for Business Incubators in Mexico

In the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, Mexico has been characterized by a high number of business incubators. Different challenges are faced towards the consolidation of the value chain of the entrepreneurship and business incubation in this country, which are being addressed by private and governmental ecosystems jointly.

In the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, Mexico has been characterized by a high number of business incubators in part due to its population density, territory and diversity of institutions in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. A significant percentage of these incubators operate on a virtual incubation mode.

Different challenges are faced towards the consolidation of the value chain of the entrepreneurship and business incubation in Mexico, which are being addressed by the private and governmental ecosystems jointly.

One of the challenges is for continuous training and specialization of human capital in the field of leadership and management of incubators; in this sense the infoDev Business Incubators Training Program and certified trainers in the region, during the period 2012 - 2013 have helped the Mexican entrepreneurial ecosystem conducting various training events through government agencies, NGOs, business organizations and business incubators.

In a period of 8 months three training events have been developed in the states of:

Jalisco (Guadalajara, October 2012, 6 modules)

Hidalgo (Pachuca, December 2012, 3 modules)

Baja California (Mexicali, April 2013, 4 modules)

They have trained 250 professionals in the fields of leadership, management, consulting, government and universities. The first event held in Jalisco in partnership with the state government is the result of the space that was given to the Latin American network (RedLAC) on 4th Global Forum in Helsinki, Finland. It is worth noting that from this event the incubators themselves have taken the lead in organizing the training seeking public-private partnerships for this purpose.

The next training event offered in Mexico will be held in the state of Veracruz thanks to the Red Veracruz Incuba A. C. and Secretary of Economic Development (SEDECO) of the State. For details of the event go to redveracruzincuba.org

There are other events in development for the states of Sonora, Oaxaca, Nuevo León and Mexico State. RedLAC has a link coordination in Mexico that monitors the development and consolidation of this network of professionals in training.

RedLAC launches new website from the month of June 2013, available at: redlacnet.org

Mexico grows, if they their entrepreneurs grow; a shared vision that is proliferating in this country's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
